About The founders

Rick started out working in the tree industry for his uncle, since as far back as he can remember doing tree work. He started as a young boy handing out flyers and business cards, and by the time he was seventeen he was a Forman running his own crew.

Rick's Expert Tree Service was started on a limb by two individuals with a hard work ethic and a will to succeed. Rick and Jodie Horger started the business in February 2001 after a falling out with Rick?s previous employer of seven and half years. Rick and Jodie had just purchased their first house together in October 2000, and dumped their entire savings into settlement cost, so they literally started the company from nothing. Rick and Jodie decided to start Rick?s Expert Tree Service in February 2001 within minutes of the conversation that Rick was let go. Within hours flyers were made and distributed on cars in church and supermarket parking lots.

The company focused on grinding stumps at this point. They would look for any yard with a stump and knock on the door, or leave an estimate to grind it on the door. This is how the business ran for the first couple months. Through the years it grown into a full service tree company that consist of a team of six skilled and educated arborist, state of art equipment, and the newest investment a garden center/shop (not up and running yet).

The company reputation speaks for itself, since approximately 85% of new clients are from referrals. The true secret of success thus far is the compassion and knowledge of the owners and employees of arboriculture.
