About the founder

Rick Horger, Vice President

Rick started out working in the tree industry for his uncle, since as far back as he can remember doing tree work. He started as a young boy handing out flyers and business cards, and by the time he was seventeen he was a Forman running his own crew.

Rick Horger had financed a stump grinder in 1999 in order to fulfill a need that his previous employer could not, or was not willing to meet. Before making this decision he spoke with his superior and asked for his approval to buy the machine that would be able to grind stumps that Rick?s employer was not able to with their oversized machine. His employer was supportive of the idea and even had Rick grinding extra stumps on the weekend from his other crews. Rick ran a crew of five men was he was only 18 years of age.

Early in the year of 2001 friction between Rick and his uncle arose and Rick was let go. In a bind to meet financial needs with the new mortgage payment Rick searched for work. In his heart, Rick knew what he wanted, so he went for it, and started Rick?s Expert Tree Service. His goal was to become a successful and honest businessman through hard work.

Rick received his Pennsylvania Commercial Driver?s License when he was only 18 years old. He also took a crane safety course in 2007. Rick is also a member of the Tree Care Industry Association.

Rick is a self educated arborist through on the job experience and reading text books on arboriculture.

Rick makes the purchases, operates and maintains equipment, and is charge of hiring employees.

Rick believes in coming to a job prepared with the right equipment to make it as efficient as possible.
